About the Salon & Jake
Nestled in the walkout basement of an old brick house located at 115 Woolwich Street Guelph, Bodh Salon & Photography offers a unique experience to its clients. The combination of a hair salon and photography studio along with its contemporary and intimate atmosphere is what sets Bodh apart from the average salon. Bodh Salon & Photography is owned by Jake & Michelle Somerville and officially opened its doors back in January 2011.
Jake Somerville is a master stylist with over 16 years experience. He’s trained with many of the industry leaders in Canada and the United States – Vidal Sassoon, Bumble & Bumble, L’Oreal, Aveda, Rusk, Modern Organic Products (M.O.P.), Goldwell and Schwarzkopf. Jake’s past work experience as both hairstylist and salon manager has allowed him to create the very best environment for his clients. He holds himself to the highest of standards as Jake’s priority is not only to give his clients flawless haircuts and colours, but an equally enjoyable salon experience.
Stress-free, comfortable environment for our stylists, staff and most importantly, clients. By having a balanced work environment, stylists are able to perform at the highest level, and clients can consistently receive high quality services.
One-on-one appointments offer clients the full attention they deserve with every service. Clients are not double booked, and they receive their services efficiently without the long wait times.
Combining the hair salon with photography gives stylists the opportunity to step out from behind the chair and create their own looks. By doing this, our stylists become more innovative, and forward thinking. Combining the industries gives a creative edge.
Education is crucial for mastering techniques to provide clients with the most current and contemporary trends. By training under each of the hair industry’s top leaders, stylists receive a diverse skill-set foundation for working with all hair types.
Giving back to the community and local charities is important to us. We’ve donated hair and photography services to silent auctions for Guelph General Hospital, cut-a-thons for Parkinson’s Society, mini-sessions for the Not Just Skin Deep initiative and being a volunteer photographer for Free The Children’s “We Day”, just to name a few.
